Subaru Visits Yorkshire for Product Range Day

Subaru UK has brought its range and senior management up to Yorkshire, one of the brand’s traditional strongholds, for a driving day with a number of NGMW members in attendance.

It’s fair to say that the brand had been in a bit of a lean spot over the past few years, with its share of the market dwindling to just under 1,000 vehicles sold in 2020. However parent company IML — now also the UK owner of arch-enemy brand Mitsubishi! — has been restructuring the marque and over the last two years it’s been one of the fastest-growing in the country.

With a range of new vehicles and specifications coming on-stream in 2024, Subaru arranged a dealer event and subsequent media day at a rather interesting location at Wharfedale Grange, near Harrogate.

As well as the compulsory media presentation, delivered by Brian Wheeler — PR manager for Subaru UK & Ireland — Subaru UK’s newly appointed managing director, Lorraine Bishton, was on hand for questions.

The entire Subaru range was available for on-road drives with more than 20 cars on hand including the new Crosstrek, Outback X, and Forester e-BOXER, as well as the Forester Sport, the regular Outback, and the Solterra EV.

In case the attendees needed reminding about Subaru’s heritage, there were also two classic models on display but not available for use. Nonetheless, the blue Impreza P1 and red BRAT provided quite the welcome on the drive into the venue!

Of course it wouldn’t really be a Subaru event without some off-road excursions too, and there was an automotive assault course — made more interesting by recent rain — with guided drives at Home Farm on the nearby Rudding Estate.

With many Northern Group members heading to the event, you’ll be able to read their reviews in their various outlets and we’ll feature some in upcoming monthly roundups too.
