If you’re a full-time motoring journalist, writer, videographer, or contribute to any other form of motoring media and you’re based or published in the north of England, you may be eligible to join the Northern Group of Motoring Writers.

The Group is always looking out for new members, whether they’re established writers or people who are new to the industry. You only need to meet the criteria above and submit an application form for consideration by the membership committee.

New members are subject to a 12-month probationary period before becoming full members. There is an annual fee, currently set at £40 for 2023, which contributes to the Group’s social and welfare activities.

As a member you’re expected to attend a minimum number of Group events each year, including the Annual General Meeting, Ordinary meetings, and any launch events organised for the Group by third parties.

Membership is reviewed annually, with each member required to submit 12 articles of no fewer than 300 words (or equivalent for non-text media) covering the previous 12-month period for the membership committee’s scrutiny.

Each member is also expected to contribute to the regular newsletter and provide up-to-date information for the Group’s biennial Handbook and the website.
