SEAT On Tour Heads to Liverpool
SEAT and nascent sibling brand Cupra came to the Northern Group’s patch, with the SEAT On Tour’s only UK event taking place in Liverpool.
Based at the Titanic Hotel in the city’s docklands, the event brought a range of the brand’s cars together for a driving experience, as well as a product presentation from CEO Wayne Griffiths.
Griffiths spoke about the new Cupra brand headquarters, currently being built next to SEAT HQ close to the centre of Barcelona, and the successes of the brand since its 2018 launch. That includes a year-on-year sales increase of nearly 80%.
The event gave attendees a close-up look at the recently announced SEAT Mii Electric, the clean-sheet design SEAT el-Born, and the first standalone Cupra model, Formentor. A Cupra e-Racer, a full-EV race car based on the Leon was also on display.
Among the full fleet of SEAT/Cupra models available to drive were the Cupra Ateca, and the Cupra Leon R ST Abt. This latter car has been worked on by the Abt racing team, bumping power up from nearly 300hp to 370hp, with only 150 cars coming to the UK.
