Northern Group of Motoring Writers’ Summer 2023 Newsletter
A new Northern Group of Motoring Writers’ Newsletter is now available, with the latest news, opinion, features, and information from across the Group — including our recent 50th Anniversary celebrations — and the wider industry.
The newsletter has already been dropping into inboxes around the motor industry as our newsletter editor, David Whinyates, has gathered together some of the weird and wonderful things going on around the Group over the last few months. That includes the aforementioned anniversary event, with a report penned by David himself into the spectacular day at Aldwark Manor.
For the first time in four years there’s a foreword from a new Chair as Andrew Evans steps up into the position to succeed Andy Harris following his tenure.
Andrew, also the website editor, delivers a report into how the website continues to go from strength to strength, and shares a story about the day he went to his daughter’s school’s careers day in a McLaren 720S.
We hear from new member George Loveridge too, with a traditional introductory piece as well as his thoughts on a classic 1956 Morgan Plus 4 — one of the more interesting family heirlooms around! Veteran member Jonathan Smith also talks about his cars, and it’s fair to say it’s a considerably newer fleet…
Another classic motor makes the newsletter’s pages as Martin Ward writes about his FIAT 500 which made national news thanks to its unusual provenance and a date with (the Dial of) Destiny…
There’s also a preview of some important dates for the NGMW, with our 2023 Car of the Year judging now entering its final stages and of course the upcoming pre-SMMT barbecue where we host PRs and fellow journalists the night before the event with some fine food and company following their long treks up north.
You’ll also be able to read a retrospective road-trip from Andy Harris — as well as his recent trip down under — Damian Turner’s off-road trek in a Range Rover, and Tom Sharpe’s sneaky attempts to snap F1 world champion Jenson Button…
If the newsletter isn’t already in your inbox, you can read it in the sidebar on the right or click here!
