Genesis Hosts the Northern Group for a Driving Day
Genesis Motor has come back to the north to host the Northern Group for a range driving day and dinner.
One of the newest brands on the market, Genesis was launched to Europe in May 2021 as a standalone marque rather than its previous guise as an offshoot of Hyundai.
It’s also one of the busiest, growing to a total range of six models plus two additional electric variants — the GV70 SUV and the G80 saloon — over the past 18 months.
With an event based at the regular NGMW haunt of Thorpe Park Hotel near Leeds, Genesis brought along a selection of the newest cars in the range. NGMW members had a chance to drive 14 vehicles, including the electric G80, electric GV70, GV60, and the petrol-powered G80 Sports.
For the electric GV70 and G80 Sports it was a first outing on the press fleet, giving a first chance for many of the members in attendance — 14 in total! — to get behind the wheel of either. Unsurprisingly, both were in demand throughout the day.
Slightly more surprisingly, the West Yorkshire weather held out for much of the day, with only a brief shower around lunchtime and driving right up until sunset — and even a little beyond — as you can see from a gallery of images throughout the day submitted by our members.
The Genesis press team also hosted an evening event for attending members, allowing for a catch-up in what’s likely the final event of 2022 for the Group.
