Genesis Hosts Northern Group for 2021 Range Day & Meeting

Recently relaunched premium brand Genesis has hosted the Northern Group for a driving day attached to an ordinary general meeting for the Group.

You may not be familiar with the name as Genesis — officially “Genesis Motor” — is a rather new manufacturer to the UK, albeit with more presence in other territories.

Originally created as a premium sub-brand to Hyundai, the brand consisted of a single model — the Hyundai Genesis — which it sold at a handful of specially decked-out dealerships starting in 2014.

Unfortunately, it also sold only a handful of cars in the two years it was active, leading to a change in tack for Europe.

The present-day Genesis relaunched as a standalone marque in May 2021, bringing the G70 saloon, G70 Shooting Brake, and GV70 SUV to the market.

Genesis brought along all these and the larger G80 saloon to the driving event, staged at the Middleton Lodge hotel near Darlington, County Durham.

Despite the very best attempts of Storm Barra — which wreaked havoc with the sail flags — and the rather short daylight hours this close to the Winter Solstice, there was almost non-stop driving as the Group tested out that rarity of brand new cars from a brand new company.

Following the driving day itself, the Group held an Ordinary General Meeting, allowing us to plan out the events of the coming year, before an early Christmas dinner and perhaps the worst game of snooker ever played by adult humans.
