Andrew’s route into the world of motoring journalism has not exactly been a traditional one. An early, familial love of cars and an affinity for computers became an obsession with racing games. Despite spending more time gaming than in lectures, he graduated with an MSc in human genetics and headed into the world of scientific research.

A chance visit to write about a motorsports event — Sony and Nissan’s GT Academy — for a racing game website soon turned into a career in automotive writing, and Andrew moved to Blackball Media in 2015. Starting in the week of Dieselgate, Andrew’s scientific and technological knowledge was put to good use as the senior staff writer on Workshop Magazine, along with Blackball’s other publications and outlets.

Since leaving Blackball he’s become the editor of that racing game website, GTPlanet, and as a freelancer has worked for clients that include Bonhams, Car & Classic, Drivetribe, Goodwood RRC, and the Institute of the Motor Industry. Andrew joined the Northern Group of Motoring Writers in 2015, and is currently the chairman and website editor.
