Tom Sharpe

Now managing editor at Bauer Media’s Automotive Management (AM) B2B brand, Tom is a trained NCTJ journalist and one-time Yorkshire Journalist of the year.

Known by PRs across the sector for his dislike of bananas, the NGMW’s Rotherham connection started his career with the Rotherham Advertiser and remains motoring editor for its parent company Reginal Media Limited, providing weekly motoring-related content to its newspaper titles.

Among Tom’s proudest career moments is a project which saw the Rotherham Advertiser’s then-new website launched with a trip to Bahrain to provide multimedia coverage of the Formula One debut of South Yorkshire’s own racing team, Virgin F1. And they say life in Rotherham lacks glamour…

Over the years Tom has expanded his own driving skills with courses through the IAM and Millbrook Proving Group’s CAT Driver Training school, and has also completed his ARDS with the help of classic car racer Mark Hayles and Mazda UK. He also holds a full motorcycle licence, though remains an apprehensive rider.

Now Tom’s knowledge is as much about car retail, dealer’s retail agreements and used car values as it is about life in the driver’s seat, however. As well as AM Online, the Rotherham Advertiser and the occasional appearance in Fleet News, you can also find him hosting the AM News Show podcast, with monthly episodes screened via YouTube.
