Andy Talbot
Growing up with a number of quirky 70s’ VWs in the family (K70, 411) and from exposure to 1970s’ American TV shows, Andy’s motoring interests began with VWs and American cars. Equity-registered, he trained as an actor alongside TV’s The League of Gentleman, before teacher training, a 25-year career as a theatre lecturer existed alongside sporadic ‘on-set’ TV and film design crew work on such shows as Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and Brookside, and on some film projects: building, gathering, and organising props.
As a host and commentator of much of ITV4’s automotive content since 2019 – Auto Mundial, Motorsport Mundial, Historic Monaco GP, Macau GP highlights, and EVO Car of the Year – Andy currently records more automotive-related TV than most, with over 200 episodes of weekly automotive TV a year (UK and internationally)!
Additionally, he’s a current professional voice artist, magazine contributor (a regular with Classic Car Weekly), and a writer for a well-known classic car and motorcycle auction house. He has also made appearances as a guest on the live ‘Meet the Experts’ stage at the NEC Classic Motor Show and commentates at live classic vehicle events.
His main passion is for the quirky the underdogs, the forgotten and under-the-radar classics, currently embodied by ownership of a ‘survivor’ 1973 VW 181 Thing from California. Previous classic ownership includes Trabants, Pontiac Fieros, Nissan Cubes, and more unusual VW marques such as Iltis, Golf Syncro Country and even a split-screen ambulance.
